UAV stands for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle – commonly known as a drone, it is an aircraft with no human pilot, crew, or passengers on board.

UAS stands for Unmanned Aircraft System – the term UAS includes not only the UAV itself, but also the person or team on the ground controlling the flight, along with the system that connects the two (GPS, ground control, transmission systems, cameras, software, etc.).

UGV stands for Unmanned Ground Vehicle – vehicles that can operate without a driver. There are two types: remotely operated and autonomous ground vehicles.

USV stands for Uncrewed Surface Vessel – also known as a drone boat or sea drone, a USV is a boat or ship that operates on the water’s surface without a crew. USVs function with varying levels of autonomy, from remote-controlled to fully autonomous surface vessels (ASVs).

ROV stands for Remotely Operated Vehicle – an unmanned underwater robot connected to a ship via a series of cables. These cables transmit command and control signals between the operator and the ROV, enabling remote navigation of the vehicle.
